Mayor's Message
A message from the Mayor of Nea Filadelfeia – Nea Chalkidona for the PPIED website.

Mayor of Nea Filadelfeia – Nea Chalkidona
Dear friends,
I warmly welcome you to the website of the Global Cultural Foundation of Diaspora Hellenism — a foundation that has linked its course to the history, identity, and cultural character of Nea Filadelfeia – Nea Chalkidona.
Our city was born from the strength and creativity of the refugees of Asia Minor. Together with them, they brought a great culture, a rich intellectual tradition, and values that continue to inspire our community to this day.
PPIED and the Museum of Asia Minor Hellenism “Filio Haidemenou” are invaluable guardians of this historical legacy, keeping its memory alive and highlighting the enduring contribution of the Hellenism of Asia Minor and the Diaspora.
At the same time, the Foundation is evolving into a dynamic space for culture, education, and creative dialogue. Through its exhibitions, academic and educational activities, publications, and cultural initiatives, it connects the past with the present and offers valuable inspiration to younger generations — reminding us that knowledge of history is a prerequisite for a creative future.
As a Municipal Authority, we consider that safeguarding historical memory and promoting our cultural heritage is an ongoing duty — towards the people who founded this city, and towards the generations that follow.
I invite you to get to know the work of PPIED up close, to visit the Museum, and to take part in its activities. I am certain that your visit will be a meaningful journey into the history, culture, and roots of Hellenism.
